The Galax Smokehouse

Wonderful pulled pork sandwich, great brisket, hush puppies and smoked mashed potatoes were so good. Our server was Anthony and he was wonderful. Food came out fairly quick, considering it was completely packed. You pay at the front and prices were so reasonable. Will be back if I'm ever in Galax again.

The Galax Smokehouse was recommended by our air bnb hosts. We came into town to go to Walmart and impulsively decided to stop in for lunch. I typically call any dine in restaurants in advance as my family is large and i have a daughter in a wheelchair which for some places can be a hassle to find adequate seating for her. We didn’t do that here. I went in and asked if the could accommodate us the waitress who was actively serving other tables said yes told me to go get my crew and had our table set by the time we all got back inside. Following some of the complaints on other reviews: yes they use plastic silverware and paper plates. That, however, does not take away from the taste of the food. My whole family was pleased with the portion sizes and taste of the food. The ribs were tender and delicious and their house made sauces are delicious. The staff is extremely friendly and our server was phenomenal!

Super friendly and fast service. Delicious iced tea. Excellent food. Marked it down one star because the brisket was pulled not sliced, but otherwise I definitely recommend when in town.

Heading down the Crooked Road and arrived at Galax mid-morning. We weren't ten feet from our car before we could smell some sweet, sweet smoke that told us there was barbecue nearby. Strolled up the street and the door to The Galax Smokehouse was open while they were getting ready for the day. A woman inside came over and told us to come back in an hour, but that they opened up the door to let people know they were in for a treat. She was extra helpful as well and told us how to get to Barr's Fiddle Shop and a couple of other places in Galax. We got back there for lunch and dug in - full slab of ribs, pulled pork, mac and cheese, beans, corn nuggets (fried creamed corn), and hush puppies. Fall off the bone ribs with about 10 different barbecue sauces. Only meal we needed for the day - outstanding!

I ate here for the first time today, and enjoyed the meal. I had the pulled pork platter with mac and cheese and baked beans. The food was delicious but wish the sides had been a bit larger for the price I paid. The server was very friendly and courteous.

The staff are amazing, nice, funny and just enjoyable to be around. I also love the food. It's a great place to stop in when traveling especially since it's right in Downtown Galax. I highly recommend!

Bernadette and her crew come thru every single event, no matter why you find yourself “High on the mountain “ it’s always a good idea to stop in at the smokehouse. Does not matter if the streets are closed for a event or it’s a regular day, it’s worth the time to visit, brisket, pork bbq, chicken or burgers and dogs just save room for the banana pudding or my favorite the cookies.

Wonderful place to eat. Burgers were great, and had a great time at this restaurant. Would recommend to anyone, and can't wait to visit again!
